Healthy decision-making skills are vital skills for teens to learn as they navigate their complicated world. To help teens learn to face the challenges of adulthood and learn healthy behaviors, our team developed Making Life Choices. This textbook includes topics ranging from basic personal care, to family life, dealing with conflict, and avoiding negative behaviors.

As part of the product development team for this project, I designed the interior of the student edition of this book, including the design of the template for production. I also designed and produced over 100 pages of glossary, appendix, and index copy.

The traditional perspective on teaching nutrition tends to focus solely on the food component of the healthy living equation. Food, Nutrition, & Wellness takes a unique approach by blending academic perspectives with an understanding of food preparation and nutritional value.

For example, many exercises challenge the student to explore nutrition from a scientific understanding. How do the chemical properties of foods combine in the cooking process? Why are some foods more nutrient rich than others? Additional exercises reinforce math skills, encourage understanding of other cultures and cuisines, and even encourage students to understand food marketing and a build healthy body image.

As the primary designer on this project, I designed the interior of the student edition including all unit/chapter openers and many features and academic challenges. I also prepared the InDesign template for the production of this design. To design the cover of this book, I worked with outside vendors to develop design concepts into a finished product.

Introduction to Business is a high school level course that emphasizes business concepts as they are applied to real-world businesses. Our team used innovative real-world companies as the example for discussion in each unit. The design and content worked together to help students understand the relationship between academic strategies and their applications in a real-life setting.

As part of the product development team for this project, I designed the interior of both the student and teacher editions of the course. I prepared InDesign templates for the production of both editions. I designed and produced of over fifty pages of teacher and student reading guide materials and appendices. I also designed five full color posters to help expand on ideas discussed in the book. I designed covers and packaging materials for all relevant ancillaries and software packages. To design the cover of this book, I worked with outside vendors to develop design concepts into a finished product.

Fun Fact: P.B. Loco, the real-world company featured in Unit 1, was so happy to be featured in our book they sent the entire team samples of their gourmet peanut butter. While the team did eye Sun-Dried Tomato Peanut Butter a little skeptically, I can assure everyone that Sumatra Cinnamon & Raisin is amazing! A must try.

Glencoe Accounting First-Year and Advanced courses are the only high school level accounting textbooks to feature fully integrated Peachtree accounting software into their curriculum. Both books balance theory and software with practical, real-world examples and themes to create a well rounded educational experience.

My role on this project included the design of both the First-Year and Advanced Course covers as well as a full redesign of the First-Year Course interior for both the student and teacher’s edition. I created InDesign templates for use in producing the complete book. I also designed and produced over 75 pages of teacher and student reading guide material and covers for nearly fifty print ancillary covers and software packages.
